Review

The size of the large paperback book when closed, the inMotion unfolds to provide stereo speakers and a dock slot. Just slide any iPod with a dock connector--including the iPod mini--into the slot and press Play; the dock connector provides the inMotion with a line-level audio signal, as well as a way to charge and sync your iPod. The sound quality is impressive considering the size of the inMotion, but don't expect significant stereo separation--the speakers are only a few inches apart. The inMotion provides 15-25 hours of use (depending on volume levels) off of four AA batteries.

The inMotion is compatible with older iPods (without the dock connector), which connect via a mini-to-mini cable. Older iPods also lose the ability to charge and sync via the inMotion.

UPDATE: The inMotion system has recently been replaced by two newer units, the iPod mini-only inMotion iMmini ($130) and the all-iPod inMotion iM3 ($180). If you're considering the original inMotion, the new iM3 offers a wireless remote control and better compatibility (via interchangeable adapters) with all iPod models.
