Altec Lansing offers new high-end home iPod speakers

by Peter Cohen, Playlist Magazine

Altec Lansing on Wednesday introduced the M602, a new high-end home speaker system for Apple iPods that retails for $199.95.

Measuring 14 x 5.4 x 8.2 inches and weighing 5 pounds, the M602 touts two full-range drivers and two tweeters and is “Made for iPod” certified. It comes with a dock that accommodates third-generation and higher iPods and iPods nanos. It comes with a wireless remote and also features built-in controls to adjust volume, play/pause, rewind and fast forward. You can also adjust bass and treble.

Also, a composite video cable connects the device to an external television or home entertainment system, so you can view the contents of your video iPod on a television screen. A headphone jack allows users to listen without blasting the speakers; an auxiliary input accepts audio from devices equipped with a 3.5mm jack.
